About Dharamshala
Dharamshala city is located in Kangra district at 18 km from Kangra city, serving as Himachal Pradesh's winter capital. Separated into upper and lower divisions, the lower division is the Dharamsala town itself with its bustling market and bus connections, while the upper division, 3 km away, is Mcleodganj. Dharamsala is the home of the Dalai Lama, who runs his Tibetan government in exile from here. Since 1959, the town has been transformed into Little Lhasa, beautified by its Tibetan Buddhist settlers. Set on the foothills of the Dhauladhar ranges, it is one of the best places on earth to experience rich Tibetan culture and has been a centre of meditation and peace for decades. The HPCA Cricket Stadium here, surrounded by snow-capped peaks, is considered one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world. The Kangra Art Museum, War Memorial, and the tea gardens of Kangra Valley add depth to the Dharamshala experience beyond its spiritual core.
